2025 PGA Jr. League

The 2025 Race for The Campbell Cup! A fun, inclusive team golf experience where junior golfers learn the game through tournament-style play.

First Tee Oregon – PGA Jr League

Overview & History

PGA Jr. League is transforming how young golfers engage with the game by introducing a fun, team-based format that emphasizes camaraderie, skill development, and competition. Just like other recreational youth sports, participants wear jerseys, play on teams with friends, and enjoy a supportive, social atmosphere.

At The Children’s Course in Gladstone, OR, we’ve been helping youth develop golf and life skills for over 25 years. In 2021, to honor our founders, Duncan & Cindy Campbell, we launched The Race for the Campbell Cup – a fun and competitive summer tournament series held at The Children’s Course. The series features weekly practice sessions and five PGA Jr. League matches, running from June through August.

PGA Jr. League Format

Players compete in teams of 6-8 golfers, fostering teamwork, strategy, and skill development. Weekly practices are led by First Tee coaches who guide players through technical and strategic aspects of the game while helping them build confidence in a team setting.

Matches follow a scramble match play format, where two-player teams compete against pairs from other teams. Each match consists of 9 holes, broken into three 3-hole “flags,” with match points awarded for each flag won or tied. This format reduces pressure on a singular win-or-lose outcome, creating a fun, competitive experience while reinforcing strategic decision-making.

With no parental intervention during matches, players are encouraged to collaborate, make strategic decisions together, and support their teammates. They learn when to take risks, which shots to play in different situations, and when it’s appropriate to concede putts or holes. First Tee coaches are there to guide them, ensuring they develop both their golf skills and life skills in a positive, team-oriented environment.

Throughout the season, players earn points not just for match performance, but also for their engagement in practices, other golf activities, and demonstrating First Tee’s Key Commitments: Pursuing Goals, Growing Through Challenge, Collaborating with Others, Building a Positive Self-Identity, and Using Good Judgment. Points are tracked on a season-long leaderboard, culminating in The Campbell Cup finale.

How to Earn Points

First Tee Tour – PGA Jr League is more than just golf and operates on a points system similar to other major golf tours. There are multiple ways to earn points such as practicing outside of matches and experiences as well as community service. At the conclusion of the season, the participant with the most points will be presented with “The Campbell Cup”!

How does it work? Using the point system outlined below, participants report all points by emailing [email protected]. Points should be reported on a monthly basis within the first seven days of the following month (e.g. all points earned in the month of June must be reported by July 7th). First Tee – Oregon staff will award all points earned in First Tee events (1st place, 2nd place, etc.).

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is the sole Responsibility of the Participants to report all points earned outside of First Tee events.
