Ages 14+ Programs
As teens start looking toward their future, our 14+ programming shifts the focus toward personal development — helping them clarify what matters to them and start planning their own path forward.
Our standard classes run in 6-week sessions throughout the winter, spring, summer, and fall, at various sites across the state. Beyond that, we offer camps, clinics, and other opportunities throughout the year for teens looking to get more involved.

The Caddie Academy
Caddying is more than a summer job — it’s a golf tradition that builds real-world skills like communication, teamwork, and perseverance, alongside a flexible way to earn money.
The Caddie Academy is a free training program for aspiring caddies ages 14–16, offered in partnership with the Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation. Participants learn the fundamentals of caddying, how to apply for caddie jobs at area country clubs, and how to take the first step toward the Evans Caddie Scholarship — a scholarship covering full tuition and housing for up to four years of college.
The program runs each spring at The Children’s Course in Gladstone, and includes a training day plus two on-course practice sessions.

First Tee College Scholarship Program
A national scholarship opportunity open to First Tee participants pursuing education after high school.
Local Kurrle Scholarship
The Kurrle Scholarship supports participants of programs offered by The Children’s Course | First Tee – Oregon in pursuing education after high school, including college, community college, or trade school.
Up to two scholarships of up to $5,000 are awarded per year, renewable annually for up to four years, to applicants who demonstrate:
- Active involvement in First Tee – Oregon programs
- Demonstrated financial need
- Strong application of life skills learned or developed through First Tee – Oregon
- Intentions to give back to the First Tee community as an alum
Eligibility Requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be enrolled in a college, university, or trade school as of Fall of the current calendar year
- Have participated in First Tee – Oregon programs for at least 2 years as of May 31 of the current calendar year
- Be an active participant, volunteer, or employee of First Tee – Oregon (unless already in college) in the same year you enroll in college
- Have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA

Funds are disbursed to the educational institution within 30 days of receipt of all required supporting documentation.
Required Documents
To complete your application, you’ll need to upload:
- Transcript — unofficial transcripts are accepted
- Financial Need Explanation — a letter from you or someone with full knowledge of your financial situation, explaining your need for support
- Recommendation Letter — 250–500 words from an adult outside your family, describing why you’re a strong candidate and a great representative of First Tee – Oregon
Before you start: This application can’t be saved and completed later — it must be finished in one sitting. Have all three documents ready before you begin.
